So Christmas has been and gone, your sharp shouldered jacket is at the dry cleaners, you have worn the little black dress out and those oh so practical over the knee suede boots have not been out of the box since it started snowing!
As we sit cosy by the fire in the present chill out some by choice and some by default the magazines are full of spring/ summer fashion. Gorgeous photos of long hot summer days seem a million miles away but believe me the collections will hit the high street in just a couple of weeks .
So how best to head into the next decade? What are the trends for S/S 2010?
Romance is in the air - Fairytale frocks with ruffles and frills using transparent floaty fabrics such as chiffon and lace. No colour is the biggest colour trend of the season from pale cream to ivory to caramel. Lip smacking ice cream shades give girlish looks sugar-coated glamour with small prints and pastel coloured gingham.
Another trend is clean energy. Some designers have rediscovered less is more but not the mannish minimalism of the 90's. Feminity takes on tailoring, lots of draping - great for hiding all that post Christmas pudding and colours neutral for spring and lots of white for high summer.
Marching Orders - military influence and it is rumoured that the khali flak jacket might actually replace the leather biker!
Globalism versus Modern Sporty
Are you an ethnic warrior looking for strong coloured prints with an ethnic edge , animal prints , or raw edged hemp and linen or are you searching for that modernism in sporty wear using textiles such as lycra , vinyl in fluoro colours?
The Big Reveal - lingerie on show! Understated a pretty bra under a transparent top or full on wearing your bra on the outside over your top! Maybe not a great look for most of us!
Accessories - the best news for all of us who have struggled to find any shoes that are wearable except to totter from the car to the table in the restaurant is that kitten heels , clogs wedges and pretty flats are back in fashion. Peep toe boots can give that sharp edge to a somewhat too girly pretty dress. Bum bags and satchels also featured heavily on the catwalks.
The statement necklace is still popular.
If all of this fills you with horror and your credit card is growning from Christmas don't despair. A wardrobe edit with me can show you how to build on your existing wardrobe with a few key items to bring it on trend. It maybe just the addition of a military style belt on last years trench coat or one or two key pieces to work with existing items.

You don't have to be fashion victim but surrendering to frumpery is not an option either. Please give me a call to see how I could save you time and money and achieve that effortlessly chic look you have always wanted and that is right for your lifestyle and budget.
